Chapel time and bible courses are requirements at Abilene Christian University, and it is affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The school’s 2020 goal is to become the world’s go-to institution for the development for Christ-centered global leaders. It is also dedicated to adopting the cutting edge of mobile learning technology, and was the first university to provide all incoming students with an iPhone or iPod and the first to publish its student newspaper on the iPad. ACU offers 71 baccalaureate majors in over 125 areas to students that come from almost every state in the U.S. and from 43 countries worldwide. Founded in 1906 and located in Abilene, Tex., a city of 118,000 people situated 180 miles west of Dallas/Fort Worth, ACU students have access to the cultural and entertainment opportunities typically reserved to cities twice that size. For on-campus culture, nearly one third of students participate in “Sing Song,” an annual musical variety show since 1956.
