A law degree and much more...

At City we offer a range of opportunities to grow your legal potential outside of the course.

Mooting

Mooting is a key part of life at The City Law School and we believe it's one of the quickest and most effective ways for you to develop the competencies you need to be a successful lawyer. Mooting helps you to master important legal skills, such as research and analysis, whilst also gaining experience of public speaking and argument.

We run several annual City Law School mooting competitions where you can act as counsel to argue a point of law before a senior practising judge. Our students also regularly participate in a variety of national and international external mooting competitions.

Pro Bono

Now in its eleventh year, our Pro Bono programme gives you the opportunity to work with real-life clients. You can interview and provide written advice to a range of clients. We have a number of partnership programmes at local, national and international level, including Amnesty International Letter, the Innocence Project and the National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV).

City Enterprise Service

At The City Law School you will have the opportunity to volunteer at the City Enterprise Service - a free walk-in centre offering assistance for small businesses and technology start-ups.
The service is run by law students and supervised by local professionals and experienced start-up owners. It provides advice on a range of business and legal matters and is a unique way for you to put your legal skills and knowledge directly into practice.

Centre for Careers Skills and Development

Our dedicated Career and Skills Development Service is available from your first day to provide you with specialist advice about how you can advance your career. The careers consultants at the centre give you individual guidance and support for interviews, mock interviews and job searching techniques for your chosen career path.
