You have to be a man of actions not words as you have the responsibility and or people you should be a role model.
It is really important that if a person has joined as a manager then he should have team building skills. It is really important that he should possess the ability to make a cohesive team from a group of strangers. Problem solving skills are must as we do not live in a perfect world as projects can be late, budget will do some problem or any other issue so one should have the hardy attitude toward these problems.
Project manger should know how to work in a stressful situation and try to influence others and make these obstacles their opportunities.
