An educational institution named as Jamia Abbasia was founded in Bahawalpur in 1925 but In view of the changing scenario, Jamia Abbasia was declared as a general University in 1975, and was renamed as The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB). Islamia University of Bahawalpur was commenced its working with ten departments and now the number has increased to 45 offering 74 faculties. Besides conventional disciplines of Religious Affairs, Languages, Social and Basic Sciences; education is being imparted in the areas of Business Administration, Engineering, Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences, Computer, Law, Education, Fine Arts, Pharmacy, Life Sciences and Sports Sciences. IUB results show that university values quality education rather than quantity. Two others campuses of University of Bahawalpur were also set up at Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar in 2005 to provide opportunities of higher education to the youth at their door step. In the beginning, Departments of Management Sciences and Computer Science & Information Technology were established for which IUB result was very remarkable and appreciable. Bahawalpur university results for different faculties are declared at regular basis to avoid any inconvenience to the students.
