BSEK announces SSC Part II Science Group result 2013

KARACHI: Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) on Thursday announced the result of SSC Part II Science Group Annual Examination 2013. Ammar Samad Khan of Usman Public School with 791 marks out of maximum 850, was declared first. The second position went to Syed Muhammad Usman Ali of Waves Grammar Secondary School, University Road, with 792. Daniya Ali of Karachi Public School and Karishma Kumari of Defence Authority Model Girls School Phase-IV shared third position with 789 marks each. According to statistics, 137,968 candidates appeared in the examination. Of these 14,055 were placed in A-I grade and 25,183 in A grade whereas 27,929 in B grade. The number of candidates who got C grade was 22,785 and 9,371 D grade; 329 candidates were placed in E grade while 144 passed with additional subjects. A total of 72.14 percent passed, which means as many as 99,652 cleared their exam. The marks statements will be issued in 20 days time, the BSEK statement added.

KARACHI: Despite the fact that boys bagged the top two positions like the last year’s examinations, girls continued to outshine their male fellows by securing twice as many ‘A-1 grades, the highest attainable letter grade, the BSEK results showed on Thursday.
About 72 per cent of the Matric science group students celebrated their success on Thursdayas they passed and managed to keep their dreams intact. The anxious wait ended for a total of 137,968 candidates after the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) announced results.
To honor the top three position holders, a ceremony, presided over by BSEK chairperson Fasihuddin Khan, was organized by the board at its conference hall. The BSEK chairperson announced the names of students who topped the exams. Ammar Sarmad Khan, a student of Usman Public School, bagged the top position as he secured 791 marks out of the total of 850. He told The Frontier Post that though he felt that the matriculation system needed improvement, he tried his best to avoid rote learning.
The second position was secured by Syed Muhammad Usman Ali of Waves Grammar Secondary School located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal with 790 marks or 92.94 per cent. The response of Usman was exactly same like that of Ammar. He said the BSEK should now break the guess papers culture as the rotation of exam questions during every last five years makes it easy for anybody to assume most of the paper. Instead, he said, the analytical method of teaching should be introduced and encouraged. Khan, the BSEK chairperson, said the issue of repetition of exam questions had been marring the exams for last many years but with efforts the board had improved on it over last couple of years.
The third position was shared by Daniya Ali of Karachi Public School (KPS) and Karishma Kumari of the Defence Authority Model Girls School. Both the girls obtained 789 marks or 92.82 per cent.
Result statistics: According to the statistics released by the board’s examination controller, Noman Ahsan, 99,652 students out of the 137,968 who sat the exams have passed. A Total of 14,055 or 10.17 per cent of the students obtained the ‘A-1′ grade. Around 18.20 per cent of them obtained the ‘A’ grade while 20.21 per cent managed to secure a ‘B’ grade. About 16.49 percent passed the exam with a ‘C’ grade while 6.78 per cent managed to scrape a ‘D’.
The controller of exams told The Frontier Post that the marks certificates will be issued to the schools within 10-day period to match up with the ongoing admission process at colleges.
Special candidates: The BSEK also announced the results of around 118 special candidates who appeared in part II of the annual matriculation examinations this year and 101 special candidates who appeared in part I. The special students who topped the exam all belonged to the Dewa Academy for the Deaf, which is located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Nida Shams secured the first position by obtaining 88.11 per cent while Zainab Ali Akbar stood second by scoring 85.88 per cent. The third position was secured by Maryam Ali who obtained 84.82 per cent.
