Brown University
For the Class of 2013, Brown University received a total of 24,988 applications and accepted 2,708 applicants. In the Early Decision round, 2,343 students applied and 556 were accepted. For a targeted freshman class of 1,485, Early Decision applicants made up 37.4% of the incoming class.
Columbia University
Columbia University received a total of 25,428 applications and accepted 2,496 applicants for both Columbia College and The School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS). With an overall admit rate of 9.8%, and a Regular Decision admit rate of 8.2%, there was a 22.5% admit rate in the Early Decision round. With 639 applicants accepted for a targeted class of 1,391, the percent of the class that was filled by Early Decision applicants was 45.9.
Cornell University
Cornell University’s statistics include applications received from all 7 of its undergraduate colleges – College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), College of Architecture, Art, and Planning, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, School of Hotel Administration, College of Human Ecology, and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR). With a total of 37,786 applications and a total of 6,567 applicants accepted, Cornell’s overall admissions rate is 17.4%. In the Early Decision round, Cornell received 3,405 applications and accepted 1,149 applicants at an acceptance rate of 36.7%. For a targeted class of 3,150, Early Decision applicants filled the class by 39.7%.
Dartmouth College
With an overall admit rate of 12%, Dartmouth College received 18,130 applications and accepted 2,184 applicants. In the Early Decision round, 401 students were accepted out of an applicant pool of 1,571 – a 25.5% admit rate. Dartmouth expects that 1,090 students will enroll, and so 35% of the class was filled by Early Decision applications.
Harvard University
Out of an applicant pool of 29,112, Harvard College accepted 2,046 students. Since Harvard only had a Regular Decision round, the only admissions rate is 7%. Of the students who were accepted, Harvard expects that 1,655 will accept their offer.
University of Pennsylvania
With a 17.1% overall admissions rate, the University of Pennsylvania had a total applicant pool of 22,939 and admitted 3,936 students. In the Early Decision round, Penn accepted 1,156 students out of 3,666 applicants – a 31.5% admit rate – and filled its incoming class by 48.2%. Penn expects that 2,400 students will enroll.
Princeton University
For a projected class of 1,300 freshmen, Princeton received 21,964 applications and accepted 2,150 applicants. Since Princeton did not have an Early Action / Early Decision round, the admissions rate is 9.8%.
Yale University
With a 7.5% overall admissions rate and a 5.2% Regular Decision admit rate, Yale received a total of 26,000 applications and accepted 1,951 freshmen. In the Regular Decision round, Yale received 23,088 applications and accepted 1,209 applicants. In the Early Action round, Yale received 5,557 applications and accepted 742 applicants.
