Schools misuse practical journals: Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK)

Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) has decided to collect the practical journals from the public and private schools, and deposit at the board office.
The board administration will further deem over the matter to resolve the issue and take out the middle way to facilitate the schools, said BSEK Controller Examination Nauman Ahsan while talking to The Nation.
He said that the decision was taken to enhance the transparency and quality of the examinations’ results, as there were some reports that the used practical journals were resold in the city’s market, while some private schools allegedly providing these journals to the markets. He said that numbers of reports regarding the misuse of practical journals by private schools were received at the board describing that the practical journals of previous years are being sold in the market. He said that the administration of the board was thinking over the issue and the middle way will be taken out within one or two days. He rejected the allegation that board is going to make money illegally by selling these journals.
BSEK PLANS TO EARN RS3 MILLION ILLEGALLY: On the other hand, some private schools associations have condemned the decision of Board of Secondary Education Karachi, and termed it as illegal, unjustified and against the sanctity of the education institutions.
Some private schools associations have reservations about the board’s decision, and pointed out that what kind of achievement the board wants to obtain by collecting around 400,000 practical journals from students. Criticizing the board’s decision, President Peak Private Schools Association, Sindh, Haider Ali said that BSEK has taken the illogical and unique decision, and said that board has bad intentions behind the decision. He said that board has no place to dump the large numbers of practical journals, while these journals will finally be sold, which will benefit the board of Rs.3000000. He said, “Board of Secondary Education Karachi has shown disbelief over the educational institutions; the board administration has insulted educational institutions, while this is the matter of only three marks. Earlier, deputy head examiners used to go every school for inspection of journals and laboratories etc.”
The peak president has warned the administration of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi that practical journals would not be submitted to the board office at any coast, and demanded that the board administration must take back its unjustified decision.
