Higher Education Commission (HEC) is offering a six month research fellowship titled 
“International Research Support Initiative Program (IRSIP)” to full time PhD students enrolled 
in Pakistan to enhance their research capabilities. The scheme was started in 2004 and more than 
1100 scholarships have been awarded so far. It is helping doctoral students by providing 
international exposure so that they could carry out research projects of high standard. The scheme is 
also assisting on-going Indigenous PhD programs by providing a mechanism for PhD scholars to 
travel abroad and conduct research in advanced industrialized countries for a period upto 6 months. 
It is also serving to develop linkages between Pakistani and foreign institutions.

in BNU, Lahore.
The School of Computer Science & IT, Beacon House National University (BNU) and Research 
Centre for Training & Development (RCTD) are jointly organizing a national level  “Developing a 
Researcher Workshop” on 25-26 November, 2011 in BNU, Lahore.
The workshop is designed to train and polish faculty and researchers from critical thinking to the 
level of publishing research. The program starts with an in-depth introduction to the research 
planning required at the initial stage of thesis, research project or a paper. It moves on development 
of critical review of literature, research design, RQs, hypotheses and writing a research proposal. It 
is followed by selection of a suitable research method, hands on practice for conducting research, 
data collection & management, data analysis using SPSS and its interpretation, report writing and 
publishing papers, using citation management and referencing tools EndNote X5.
