Before establishment of Lahore Board of Intermediate Education, the University of the Punjab conducted the matric and intermediate annual & supply exams. To facilitate the University, Lahore board was set up in 1954 and it started working for taking the annual and supply exams of most of the part of the Punjab province. With the passage of time, various other education boards were set up so Lahore board was limited to Lahore, Okara, Sheikhupura and Nankana Sahib.
The board starts the annual exams of matric class in March and intermediate exams in April every year. The results are announced after about three months of the annual or supply exams. Lahore board conducted the exams of both classes of matric and intermediate for all government and private schools and colleges, which came under their affiliation. The main objective of the board is to improve standard of education in the schools and colleges and provide the students basic and latest learning techniques. Now various subjects are introduced in which education is also imparted so that the students can be prepared for the challenging environment. There are huge number of students, which are appearing in the annual exams of matric and intermediate exams. Lahore board has also made quick progress and it standard of education along with examination is very excellent and it also adopt various methods to curb the evil ways of copying in the examination.
