Girls shine in BISE Abbottabad intermediate exam results

Abbottabad: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE), Abbottabad declared results for the annual intermediate examination on Monday, in top positions were clinched by girl students.
Shujaat Ali of the Abbottabad Public School & College got overall first position by getting 1001 marks, followed by Arzoo Malik of Jinnah Jame School & College, Haripur by obtaining 1000 marks. The third position was bagged by Aanab Sardar of the Pakistan International Public School & College, Abbottabad by securing 993 marks.
In the Pre-Medical (boys) Arzoo Malik of the JJS Haripur, with 1000 marks, was declared first, Aanab Sardar of PIPS Abbottabad with 993 marks 2nd and Annum Rafique of Khyber Public College, Mansehra with 988 marks got third positions.
In Pre-Medical (boys), Muhammad Zubair Khan of the APS, Abbottabad with 979 marks got first position, Faizan Banaras of the GPS College No 1, Abbottabad with 978 marks got 2nd and Syed Haider Yadain of the APS with 965 marks got third position.
In Pre-Engineering (girls), Maria Hameed of the Khyber Public College Mansehra was declared 1st with 974 marks, Khushbakht Ali Qamar of the JJE Haripur with 964 marks 2nd and Sidra Shakoor of the Quaid-e-Azam Girls College Haripur with 955 marks got third position.
In Pre-Engineering (boys), Shujahat Ali of APS got first position with 1001 marks, while 2nd and third positions were also clinched by the students of APS, Umair Ali Syed's 985 and Nasir Khan's 984 marks.
In Computer Science group (girls), Aqsa Riaz of KPSC, Mansehra got first position with 974 marks, 2nd position was also lifted by KPSC's Rameesha Khattak with 946 marks and Sana Siddique of Dubai Intentional College Mansehra got third position with 906 marks.
In the same group of males category, Faiz Ahmed Khan of the Qaumi Islami School & College Kamila Kohistan got first position with 833 marks, Sheikh Fahad Sehgal of the PIPS got 800 marks and stood 2nd while Ubaidur Rehman of the QISP S&C Kohistan got third position with 784 marks.
In Humanities Group (female), Syeda Amina Hassan of Al-Quran Beacon College Mansehra got first position with 909 marks, Ehsana Anum Syed of Government Girls Degree College No 1 Mansehra stood 2nd with 906 marks and Hajra Khan of Abasin PS & College got third position with 891 marks.
In the same group among females, Saifur Rehman (private) got first position with 831 marks, Gulbadeen Ahmed of the Time College Haripur got 2nd position with 824 marks and Abu Bakar of Sir Syed PS&C Havelian got third position with 801 marks.
A total of 31,124 students appeared, of whom 18,399 were declared successful, with the total pass percentage of 59.12.
BISE Abbottabad came into being as a result of the break-up of Peshawar Board in 1990 under the North West Frontier Province Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Act 1990. It is working in its own building on Murree Road , Abbottabad.
Due to increase in work load on matric section, the conduct section has been divided into two separate sections. Conduct 1 to deal with matric and conduct 2 to deal with intermediate. A printing section has also been created for printing of question papers.

The Board is governed by a Calendar based on NWFP BISE Act 1990. The act along with regulations and rules provide a complete compendium of instructions for running the Board. Within the parameters laid down by this act, the Board makes rules and regulations for its running. In addition the Controlling Authority also has the powers to provide directions to the Board to regulate any activity.

Five districts, namely Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram and Kohistan. This encompasses an area of 17,194 square kilometres and a population of 3.47 millions.

a. Government schools, including Higher Secondary Schools and colleges, Tehsil-wise, both male and female.

b. Private Schools, male and female, Tehsil-wise.

c. Private Colleges, male and female, Tehsil-wise.

Summary of institutions affiliated with the Board.

All students of 9 th and 11 th class are required to be registered with the Board. The student population here is that of registered students. In our Board area, however, a very large private student population is also there, whose examination requirements are also met by the Board.
The functions of the Board are:-

a. Hold and conduct all Examinations pertaining to Intermediate Education, Secondary Education, Classical and Pakistani Languages and such other Examinations as may be determined by Government.

b. Lay down the conditions for admission to its Examinations to determine the eligibility of candidates and to admit them to such Examinations.

c. Prescribe courses of study for its Examinations.

d. Lay down conditions for recognition of institutions.

e. Accord, refuse or withdraw recognition, wholly or partly.

f. Inspection of institutions and arrange for inspection of recognized institutions and call for inspection reports in respect of such institutions.

g. Institute and award scholarships, medals and prizes in the prescribed manner.

h. Grant certificates and diplomas to persons who have passed its Examinations and to withdraw such certificates and diplomas.

In order to enable the Board to perform these multifarious functions efficiently and effectively, these Boards were established as independent autonomous bodies with the Governor of the province as the Controlling Authority. Professionally Board is the most competent body, as it comprises the highest functionaries of the provincial Education setup as members etc.
