Aga Khan University (AKU) invites applications for its Postgraduate Medical Education Programmes starting January 1, 2014.
Internship
All medical graduates, including those
expecting their MBBS final results by end November 2013 and are able to
submit all relevant documents including valid/provisional PMDC
certificate by December 16, 2013, are eligible to apply.
Residency
Applications are invited for Residency programmes in the following disciplines:

Pathology; Clinical Haematology; Community Medicine; Dermatology;
Diagnostic Radiology; Emergency Medicine; Family Medicine;
Gastroenterology; General Surgery; Haematology; Histopathology; Internal
Medicine-Track I (4 years); Internal Medicine-Track II (2 years);
Microbiology; Nephrology; Neurology; Neurosurgery; Obstetrics/
Gynaecology; Operative Dentistry; Ophthalmology; Orthodontics;
Orthopaedic Surgery; Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery; Paediatrics
and Child Health; Paediatric Surgery; Plastic Surgery; Psychiatry;
Pulmonary Medicine; Radiation Oncology and Urology.
Note:
The current CPSP guidelines requires candidates to take a final
decision about joining track I or II Internal medicine before applying
to the programme. No change is allowed after induction.
A
candidate can apply for only one Residency programme at a time. There
are opportunities for flexible training programmes. Details are

Admission Information
Programme
information and admission material is available by downloading from
the AKU website at http://www.aku.edu/mcpk/postgrad. The link provides
all relevant information on admissions including eligibility criteria,
requirements, selection process as well as salary and benefits.
Admission material is also available from the Admission Office, Medical College, Aga Khan University, P.O. Box 3500, Stadium Road, Karachi 74800, Pakistan for Rs. 150 payable by cash / pay order / bank draft in favour of Aga Khan University drawn on a bank in Karachi, if requesting by post in Pakistan.
The Admission Office is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.
Application Fees & Deadlines
The
completed application form along with required attachments must be
submitted to Medical College Admission Office, Aga Khan University
between 9:00 am-12:00 pm.
Early Bird (all programmes):
Last Date: Friday, July 19, 2013, 4:00 pm Application Fee: Rs. 2,500/-
Registration Deadline (for all programmes):
Last Date: Thursday, August 1, 2013(After July 19, 2013) Application Fee: Rs. 5,000/-
Admission Test
All candidates applying for the Internship and Residency Programmes will be required to take an Admission Test on August 31, 2013, to be held simultaneously in Karachi, Hyderabad and Rawalpindi. Further details will be notified through the admit card.
There
is no Admission Test for entrance into Fellowship training. Selection
will be based on academic qualifications, past experience and
interviews.
Applicants
selected from training programmes in other institutions must submit a
“No Objection Certificate” or a copy of the resignation approved by the
supervising consultant before joining.
Accommodation
AKU
does not take the responsibility of providing accommodation to all
candidates. Limited accommodation is available which is offered on
“first come first served” basis for outstation candidates, in accordance
with the date and time of submission of the application form.
